Irish house design consultant to the Guinness Book of World Records
The Irish designer behind one of the most acclaimed home designs in the world, and one of Ireland’s most successful businesspeople, has left his post as chairperson of a house design company to work as a consultant to Guinness.
Vince O’Brien, founder of O’Neill Design and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, has been appointed as the director of design at the Irish House, which was founded in 2007 and is owned by Dublin-based O’Reilly.
The company, which is based in O’Connell Street, has created and sold over 10,000 houses across Ireland and the United Kingdom, with a number of overseas clients.
O’Brien is a master of the medium, with clients including the British fashion label Giorgio Armani, as well as some of Ireland´s biggest retailers including Boots and Tesco.
The Irish House is one of several new buildings planned by O’Connor and his design firm, which will be part of a series of buildings in Dublin designed by the O’Nan design studio.
It will be Ireland’s largest-ever house design.
O’,Neill was also instrumental in helping the British luxury brand Louis Vuitton develop its Dublin office in 2014.
In an interview with the Irish Times, O’Leary said he was “very happy” to return to the role, but said he had not been offered any other role in the company.
“I was never offered anything else, I’m not going to give it up for anything.
I’m going to continue doing what I do for the Irish family,” he said.”
It’s a huge honour to be part the Irish house, to have built it, to be involved with it, it’s a very special house.”
